Still alive...

Man, it has been a long time. The last couple months have been pretty crazy, but I realized that yesterday was the one year anniversary of this little spot so I figured I should come out of hiding.

Actually, haven't been hiding, just busy as hell at the new gig. I am really happy at work for the first time in years though, so all in all, it was a great move. Long days though. Up at 5am, on a train at 6:15 and in the office by 7:30. Leave the office at 6pm for a 6:15 train. Home around 7:30. Rinse, repeat. Sounds grueling but the days fly by.

Football ended with a thud in the playoffs. We lost 7-6. One of our kids intercepting the ball with about 2 minutes left, beat everyone and...fumbled untouched on the 7 yard line. We recovered it but couldn't punch it in. It was pretty crushing but what can you do. Some things aren't meant to be I guess. I felt really bad for the kid though. He was pretty upset and he didn't really need that either. He doesn't have much of a home life and football is an outlet for him. It would have been nice to see him have a big success like that at 10 years old. Hopefully he never sees the video. It was like watching the ball go through Buckner's legs in '86 (shhiver).

We decided to give the travel basketball thing a try and it has been going great. They are 5-0 so far and my son is really learning a ton about the game. He loves it. It is a pretty good grind too though. Practice Monday and Wednesday nights and then 2 games on the weekend. Some days they have an away game in the morning and a home game in the afternoon so we are pretty much running around with that. The holidays have given us a little break from it though.

Now that the holidays are winding down, we are looking forward to a vacation. We are going on a 4 night Disney cruise and then spending 4 nights in Orlando at the parks. We all can't wait. We leave on January 13th so it will come up fast.

Our latest passion though, is our family Christmas present. The Nintendo Wii. That thing kicks ass. It is pretty funny to watch my 5 year old playing tennis and my 71 year old mother in law playing golf.

I haven't played any poker at all lately. Just haven't had the time or the urge unfortunately. I have had a ton of people asking me if I am going to start up my home tourneys again soon, but I just haven't gotten around to it. Hopefully in February I will, after the vacation.

I think that is all I have for now. I need to get cracking on work being the last business day of the year. Hopefully everyone had a great Christmas or whatever you celebrate. Have a safe and happy New Year.
